Celebs mourn the Disco King Bappi Da’s sad demise!

On Tuesday night, Bappi Lahiri passed away at the age of 69. It was stated that he had numerous health issues and was hospitalised for almost a month. He breathed his last at CritiCare Hospital in Mumbai. As the news of his demise surfaced, the social media is flooded with condolence messages for Bappi Lahiri. Furthermore, numerous celebrities including Akshay Kumar, AR Rahman, etc also took to their respective social media handle to mourn his demise. 

On Twitter, Akshay posted, “Today we lost another gem from the music industry… Bappi Da, your voice was the reason for millions to dance, including me. Thank you for all the happiness you brought through your music. My heartfelt condolences to the family. Om Shanti”. 

Ajay Devgn posted, “Bappi Da was so endearing in person. But, his music had an edge. He introduced a more contemporary style to Hindi film music with Chalte Chalte, Suraksha & Disco Dancer. Shanti Dada. You will be missed”. 

The director Subhash Ghai told, “From 1970 to 1990 top music directors like Laxmikant Pyarelal, Pancham ji, Rajesh Roshan, Nadeem Shravan and many others were ruling on the top. They were reigning the industry and it was very difficult for a new music composer to stand the competition but this magical boy Bappi Lahri came and created a different music. He created his own music which was called desi disco. And then from his music, he made music for all generations. He became one of the top music composer but with a difference. That is Bappi Lahiri. You become an icon when people imitate you. And that’s why Bappi Lahri remained an icon.”

“Shri Bappi Lahiri Ji’s music was all encompassing, beautifully expressing diverse emotions. People across generations could relate to his works. His lively nature will be missed by everyone. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti,” PM Modiji tweeted.

As we all know that Bappi Lahiri, lovingly known as Bappi Da and the Disco King of Bollywood, has been known for giving several iconic numbers which included Chalte Chalte, Raat Baaqi Baat Baaqi, Tamma Tamma Loge, De De Pyaar De etc. He had also crooned the song Ooh La La Ooh La La for Vidya Balan’s The Dirty Picture. His last song, titled as Bhankas, was for Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Baaghi 3 in 2020.
